HISTORY

y is a very ancient software, originally developed by Paul Lazarev and Sergey Rosenfeld at Engineering-Technical Company (ITK, http://www.itk.ru). Startly, this software was under free, but closed-source license. Since year 2000 it was abandoned, dropped down with sources at ftp://ftp.itk.ru/pub/yui/yui-3.1.15.tgz and released under GPL license. This version was heavily adapted for FreeBSD and many useless files were throw out. I constanlty work on them, because it still and forever is my favorite editor.
