SYNOPSIS

searchd { start | stop | restart }

DESCRIPTION

searchd is a System V start/stop script for searchmonitor(8). To be called automatically upon entering (and exiting) a given run level (for example, the default run level upon system boot), the script must be placed in that run level’s script directory.

For example, these symbolic links:

/etc/rc3.d/S99searchd -> ../init.d/searchd /etc/rc3.d/K99searchd -> ../init.d/searchd
will cause searchd to be called automatically upon entering (and exiting) run level 3. (The directories above may vary on different systems.)

FILES

/etc/init.d Customary directory for start/stop scripts
swish++.conf default configuration file
/usr/local/bin/search Default location for search(1)
