NAME

mater - Assigns shader parameters, RGB color, and inheritance to an existing combination.

CONTENTS

SYNOPSIS

mater {combination} [shader_parameters [RGB [inheritance]]]

DESCRIPTION

Assigns shader parameters, RGB color, and inheritance to an existing combination. The information may be included on the command line; otherwise the user will be prompted for it. Some available shaders are:

o

o bump -- bump maps.

o

o bwtexture -- black and white texture maps.

o

o camo -- camouflage.

o

o checker -- checkerboard design.

o

o cloud -- 2D Geoffrey Gardner style cloud texture map.

o

o envmap -- environment mapping.

o

o fakestar -- a fake star pattern.

o

o fbmbump -- fbm noise applied to surface normal.

o

o fbmcolor -- fbm noise applied to color.

o

o fire -- flames simulated with turbulence noise.

o

o glass -- Phong shader with values set to simulate glass.

o

o gravel -- turbulence noise applied to color and surface normal.

o

o light -- light source.

o

o marble -- marble texture.

o

o mirror -- Phong shader with values set to simulate mirror.

o

o plastic -- Phong shader with values set to simulate plastic.

o

o rtrans -- random transparency.

o

o scloud -- 3D cloud shader.

o

o spm -- spherical texture maps.

o

o stack -- allows stacking of shaders.

o

o stxt -- shape texture mapping.

o

o texture -- full color texture mapping.

o

o turbump -- turbulence noise applied to surface normals.

o

o turcolor -- turbulence noise applied to color.

o

o wood -- wood texture.

EXAMPLES

The example shows the use of the mater command to assign shader parameters, color, and inheritance to a region.

Example 1. Assigning shader parameters, color, and inheritance to a region.

mged> mater region1 "plastic {tr 0.5 re 0.2}" 210 100 100 0

Sets region1 to use the plastic shader with 50% transparency, 20% reflectivity, a base color of (210 100 100), and inheritance set to 0.
