NAME

open - Open and edit files with their registered handlers

SYNOPSIS

open [-m mime type] [-a action] file...

open -t file...

DESCRIPTION

open automatically chooses the registered handler to open one or more files from the command line interface. To do so, it attempts to guess the MIME type of each file listed.

OPTIONS

The following options are available:

-a

Action to call. The default is "open".

-m

MIME type to force. The default behavior is to determine the MIME type according to the respective file extension.

-t

Detect the type of the files listed.
